The Lighthouse Bulletin

We Buy Photographs Copyright

A]. Our Own Picture Library: The majority of our photographs are from our own collection. This website is free for our readers to access. Indeed as of 1st January 2024 the owners of this Lighthouse Bulletin website have taken the decision to register this site and the holding company as a charity:-

“The Lighthouse Preservation Trust”

B]. Free Creative Commons Sources: Notwithstanding our conversion to a registered charity during 2024, we have always been a not-for-profit website and therefore qualify under the Creative Commons protocol (here).

Note 1: The change from a not-for-profit to a registered charity is so that this organisation can qualify under the Land Reform Act 2003 (here) and as updated (here) with the latest legislation due out in 2024 (here), and be enable to purchase derelict/tired lighthouse stations. Then use the skillset as applied to earlier charities we have registered (here + here + here), then add 39 years of experience living in, restoring and maintaining lighthouse buildings, plus a most important ingredient: the actaul skilled and dedicated crews tat work for and contract with the Northern Lighthouse Board in Scotland + Trinity House in England and Wales + The Commissioners of the Irish Lights.

It seems almost reckless not to consider assembling all of these lighthouse elements and bringing back into good order, any and every lighthouse station in the UK and Ireland that needs restoration and is past the point where regular citizens are inclined to take on what can be an onerous responsibility of some of the most iconic structures in the UK.

mwith the aim of preserving these iconic buldings and providing affordable housing) around 15% of the photographs we publish on the Lighthouse Bulletin are from (free to non-profits) Creative Commons sites such as Geograph (click here). We believe passionately that photographers, especially philanthropic and kind picture-takers should be remunerated so at least their costs are covered (hence for the past decade we donate (a modest) monthly to free sites such as Geograph).
